Living with ADD ADHD
My wife said, “Doug, you’re always living twelve hours ahead!”
I don’t think she meant it as a compliment.
But she’s right, I do.
Packing for a trip
If I’m going on a trip, I like to be packed two days ahead of time, so I have a day to figure out what I forgot to pack.
Get ahead of the game
If there’s something I need to do tomorrow, I like to do it today if possible. Then it’s done. I can cross it off and forget about it, and tomorrow is easier.
I get all my breakfast stuff out the night before. The next morning it’s sitting there waiting for me, kind of welcoming me into the day, and making me a little less rushed.
What’s coming up?
I like to know what we’re having for dinner tonight, and what my main task is going to be for tomorrow, and to make my to do list the night before. Just knowing what lies ahead helps me feel more organized and located in time.

Quote o the Day: “For those of us living with ADD ADHD, there are two kinds of time: Now, and Not Now.” (I don’t remember where I got this, but thank you)
Bonus Tip o the Day: I just got Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12, and I love it. I’m doing this blog with it, and all of my writing. It saves a ton of time and is amazingly versatile and surprisingly accurate. It’s about 44 bucks on Amazon. I highly recommend it.
Request of the Day: I see that Tip o the Day number 500 is coming up soon. I’d like to make it special; would appreciate any suggestions?
Everyone around me complains about the same. Not only do I live 12 hours ahead but a week ahead, by Monday – this week is almost over so if you tell me something is happening Thursday, you have to clarify if you mean this or next; a month ahead, in my head it’s been May for at least 15 days already; a season ahead – its already mid summer in my mind; a year ahead (literally the week after my bday I will start to tell people I am almost the next age)

Thanks for letting me know, Doug. Not sure what’s going on but I’ve had a couple people tell me that. I’ll figure it out and hopefully you’ll be getting them again.
