The waitress was young, nice, and attractive ( I still notice such things sometimes). She didn’t do a very good job. When she returned with the check, I asked her how long she had been waitressing. She was a little vague. I asked if she minded a little advice. She said,”Please.” I suggested that it would be nice if she’d return a little after we were served to ask if everything was ok, and then again a little later to see if we needed anything. She apologized but I said that wasn’t the point, that I assumed tips were important to her and I was trying to help her.
My dining companion, a wise and astute observer, commented that I was out of the bounds of convention, again. We connected this with my ADD.
So that is another advantage of ADD, that it can help us go outside the bounds of convention. I think that is sometimes a good thing (especially since I am an introvert).
I hope she will take the advice, and gets better tips.
