New Year’s Resolutions — ADHD Tip O the Day 993

Belated Happy New Year to each of you (happy in spite of our ADHD).

I don’t like making resolutions; they just set me up for disappointment and shame.

But this year I made some:

  1. Lose weight (right, sure) and this time, keep it off (uh huh).
  2. Keep my blog posts short (but I have so much to say).
  3. Be nicer and more attentive to my wife ( I hope she doesn’t throw this back at me later).
  4. Relax more.  I don’t need pressure.

Personal Note O the Day:

I may have procrastinated a little on this one.

More resolutions

And because you never know what’s going to happen.

I really meant to post this post in time.

    Hi Doug
I never do resolutions. It’s just not a portuguese thing. People will try and use new year’s as a fixed date to start striving for an objective (something humans like to do, I guess “I’ll start my diet tomorrow”, “I’ll quit smoking next month” etc), but it’s just not something that you’re “expected” to do, as it seems to be the case in the USA and Germany. So I never do any. :p
As usualy, I love the extra pictures you add at the bottom, they give me a good laugh! The one about dessert reminded me: a friend of mine was married to an Indian man and says that in India, when they have a party (like potluck or even just like a buffet type), you’re not actually expected to leave the sweets for last as you are here in the western civilizations. Nobody looks twice or frowns if you start with the sweets. And if you start with the sweets and eat enough of it, you’re robbing someone of their dessert. So the Indians might be on to something…. 😉

    Thank you Doug,
    Happy New Year!
Maybe procrastination is a skill set…or a super power?
I’ve been trying to walk more lately, which our dog agrees is a very good thing. Work… gotta work on that one.
    All the best, Scott
