With ADHD, we have so many frustrations, disappointments, failures, and negative interactions that it’s no wonder we have a lot of episodes of feeling down. And then there’s RSD too. But there are strategies for dealing with feeling down.
Rachel Wise asked me to write about the strategies and she did an amazing job of turning my little blurb into a work of art for her website. So the link gives you today’s ADHD Tip O the Day today.

Bonus Note O the Day:
We ADHDers also have a significant incidence of actual depression, but that’s another topic.
Poem O the Day:
I’ve gained eight ugly pounds
Right where anyone can see
I blame it all on the virus
Where else could any blame be?

Lament O the Day:
WordPress has “improved” it’s format for blogging. There are only two problems with the new system – it’s much much harder to use and there’s some things you can’t do anymore. I hate it.

I like the tip about rating the mood twice.
I read somewhere that if you smile really forcefully and laugh, it triggers the same muscles as when you’re smiling and laughing, and your brain responds with nice chemicals exactly the same way.
Once I was very aggravated at home and thought of it and said out loud “laugh! Just laugh!” and I laughed. A horrible, forced laugh. And again. And again. Suddenly, I was really laughing and smiling. And my mood improved drastically. 😛 Sadly:
1. You can’t do this in public (or, well… maybe you shouldn’t)
2. I’ve only done this once many years ago and never seem to remember it when I need it.

ram- this is a good endorsement for laughing, it does work. maybe at least we can chuckle in public, depending on the situation. think i’ll try to put a joke o the day in the next post.
hope you are mending well.

Hi! Thank you so much for this blog! I bought both your books and began reading “Your Life Can Be Better”. It is amazing so far!
Because of my ADD, I often buy an Audible copy of the book as well because sometimes that is easier for me. However, I couldn’t find your books in Audible. Is it possible to talk you into doing an Audible for both books?
Anyway, thank you so much for sharing your life, being vulnerable, as a way to help others. You have no idea what it means to me.
Thank you!

cindy-
thank you so much. it’s very encouraging to me to get such feedback. If you wish, i would appreciate you posting reviews on amazon or other sites. you could just use this comment.
FYI – i hope to soon publish new editions of those books. they wont be much different, mainly cleaning up errors and duplicates. if you like, i’ll be happy to try to remember to send you free drafts of them.
i’d love to do audibles, but it looks like its expensive, tech challenging, and time consuming. maybe some day.
thank you so much for commenting.
best wishes
