Plan Ahead – Packing — ADD Tip o the Day 430

Is packing for a trip kind of a standing joke for those of us with ADD or ADHD?  Has your significant other learned to ask, ” Did you pack this?  Did your remember that?”   Do you tend to find that kind of help kind of annoying, especially since you realize that you need it?

We were leaving early Friday.  I planned to pack Wednesday, a day ahead as I always do.  This is the strategy.  But it turned out there were things we wanted to do Wednesday evening, and I worked Thursday, so I didn’t pack til late Thursday night, and we left early Friday.

Even so, I only forgot three significant important things.

Won’t do that again.  The strategy is to pack the day ahead, which gives me time to think of things I’ll need and to check if I have everything.  Stick to it.

(At least I didn’t forget the ritalin, or I might not have been able to do this post!)

great comment, I am thrilled when someone gets that my little examples are just examples, to be applied to other things.

I do the same thing with my grocery list. I make it a day or two before I need to go (I go weekly). As I remember things I forgot to put on the list, I add them. By grocery store day, I’ve got a pretty good list.
