sense of humor – (sense?) — ADD Tip o the Day 311

Maybe the creativity and out of the box thinking that blesses ADD and ADHD gives us an extra dose of sense of humor.  I think I have a great sense of humor, crack myself up all the time.   But a lot of my quips seem to go everyone else’s head; I just get blank looks or they don’t even  realize I was joking.  Very subtle, I guess.

And I have a good memory for jokes (and for songs, tho not for much else (???)) But I have to be careful about which jokes I tell, where when and to whom (did you notice the “whom”?) I start off, “There was this guy who —-” and across the table I see my wife’s face – a look of horror, “Oh my God!” –  but I usually plow on and usually get a laff.

Actually,  with age and my wife’s help I have  learned to notice the feeling that what I’m about to say may be inappropriate, and use that as a signal (red flag) to not say it – usually.

Did you notice the “whom” quip above?   It was funny.

Wasn’t it?

  2. I can sympathise – my sense of humour is legendary in the various schools I’ve worked in over the years. Kids love my jokes. Adults…less so… 🙂
