Strategies for waiting — ADD Tip o the day 211

In the last blog I claimed to have strategies for waiting, which used to be a real booger for me.  but now, in the doctors office, at the mechanic, the bank or grocery line, for my wife to get ready to go, etc:

1. review in my head psalms I’ve memorized or conjugation of spanish verbs

2. work on my cards (to do list, books to read, all kinds of memory things).  these can always be reviewed, cleaned up, organized, etc

3. review the card of principles in my appointment book

4. now that i have an i phone in my pocket, many other opportunities should arrive.  this may be the universal solution to the problem

5. sometimes I strike up a conversation with the person next to me.  this has been productive sometimes (but hard since i’m an introvert)

6. theres always something to pray about

so strategies seem to have pretty much solved this problem – the impatience of ADD or ADHD

About doug with ADHD

I am a psychiatric physician. I learned I have ADHD at age 64, and then wrote two ADHD books for adults, focusing on strategies for making your life better. I just published my first novel, Alma Means Soul. Your Life Can Be Better; strategies for adults with ADD/ADHD available at amazon.com, or smashwords.com (for e books) Living Daily With Adult ADD or ADHD: 365 Tips O the Day ( e-book). This is one tip at a time, one page at a time, at your own pace. It's meant to last a year. As a child, I was a bully. Then there was a transformation. Now I am committed to helping people instead abusing them. The Bully was published in January, 2016. It's in print or e book, on Amazon.

I always keep reading material in my car so that wherever I go I can access it. When I can read something I find waiting much more tolerable.
