inattentive — ADD Tip o the day 197

One reader of the book commented that I didn’t say much about the inattentive type of ADD. Because I have the mixed type.  Most females with ADD have the inattentive type, so its not ADHD.  Like in so many other things, the boys get all the attention, cause they’re the ones causing trouble.  The girls sit at their desks, usually lost in daydreams, and don’t cause any problems, or get any notice.  They just make poor grades, or poorer than they ought to, and get promoted to the next grade.

After adolescence, the difference tends to be less; we all tend to be disorganized.  After the hyperactivity wears off, we’re about the same.  And the same strategies apply.

of course, inattentive also applies to one of my wife’s complaints about me – its hard for me to sit still for long and give her my full attention, in spite of her being very attractive and most deserving.
