I just did a blog on how I don’t really read what I’m reading, but just kind of skim thru and maybe don’t read the last bit at all. I do not recommend this! Now I noticed that I just did the same thing on a phone call.
This was a somewhat important message left on the home phone. My wife played it for me and I “listened” to it. She quickly erased it. Whoops! I got the general idea, but there were some specific details that I missed, and I couldn’t replay it. (This might be related to our creativity, when we see the forest and without rigid boundaries, where people lacking ADD or ADHD might be focused in on the trees and less able to think outside the box, or the forest, as it were.)
So I need to be aware of this tendency and either try to pay more attention to the message, or probably better (since paying more attention is not something I am good at), make sure the message doesn’t get erased before I have a chance to listen to it again.
