One of the measures of mental health is balance, not too much of this or of that. We who try to cope with ADD or ADHD have trouble with this. We have to set aside what we would like to do – watch TV, play computer games, play guitar-which we would do all day long, for what we need to do – pay the bills, write the next chapter, clean out the computer. The secret is balance – ” All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. We can use some of the want to do things as rewards for getting some of the need to do things done.
