A copy of a small blue book, The Quiet Mind, sits in the book shelf in my office, where I see it every time I go in or out of the door. The going in or out becomes the anchor that reminds me to look at the book. The book contains a number of spiritual blurbs, fairly woo woo, of guidance, encouragement and wisdom.
I read a blurb almost every time I go in or out of the office. This practice slows me down, refocuses me on a spiritual mindset, reminds me of what is important. Recently I was in a big hurry, and became aware that I was hurrying, and stopped and read a blurb. It was about not hurrying. Same thing happened one day when I was worrying and the blurb that I got was on — not worrying. So sometimes the message is important and helpful, but the main thing is just the practice – stop, slow down, read a spiritual blurb to redirect my mind. You could do this with any spiritual book. It is great for ADD or ADHD.
