We with ADD are prone to addictions. I think there are two types, chemical and activity.
I have been addicted to coffee, in large amounts. I changed to decaf.
I have been addicted to computer games. I finally had to erase them all and throw away the discs.
I am still addicted to food, a constant struggle. But can’t give it up.
The hallmark of addiction is lack of control.
That is the reality check test to determine if you are addicted.
And saying “I can stop anytime I want.” doesn’t cut it.
I think the main reasons for these addictions are to avoid feelings, to compensate for low self esteem, and to avoid dealing with reality. There surely are others.
